FAQs

  • Any resident of Ontario who has sustained a concussion is eligible to do virtual concussion care with Dr. Steven Murray. You only need access to an electronic device with a camera and microphone, and a safe, quiet environment for your visit.

  • The virtual concussion clinic is not covered by OHIP, but is covered by many health insurance plans offered by employers including Sun Life, Canada Life, Manulife, Greenshield and more. We can directly bill your insurance provider for you.

Dr. Murray can also integrate your care with your other OHIP providers to create a multi-disciplinary care team to ensure that you get the best care possible for your condition.

  • Evidence-based chiropractors are extensively trained in conditions related to the muscles, joints, and nervous system of the body. Because concussions primarily involve the nervous system and cervical spine, chiropractors are uniquely equipped to develop a comprehensive rehabilitation strategy that can include any combination of manual therapy, progressive exercise, vision exercises, vestibular and balance exercises, return to work and sport programs and more.

‍If an aspect of this treatment program cannot be done online, Dr. Murray can refer you to the appropriate local healthcare provider to complete that portion of your rehabilitation program.

  • During the initial visit, Dr. Murray will go over your health history, including a detailed review of your injury mechanism and current symptom burden. You'll be able to talk about your current triggers, life demands, and goals for treatment, including any tests or treatments that you have already undergone.

You will then complete a thorough virtual physical examination that will test the current function of your visual, vestibular, and cardiometabolic systems, along with your cervical spine, to pinpoint where your exact concussion symptoms are stemming from.

Based on these findings, Dr. Murray will work with you to create a personalized concussion rehabilitation program for you to complete at home, and can refer you to any other healthcare professionals that you may need to see for your condition.

You can expect the visit to last between 60-75 minutes, depending on the complexity of the case/.

  • Of course!

Not only is your post-visit report going to be sent to your medical doctor, but Dr. Murray is going to work with your medical doctor to ensure that everyone is on the same page and you are getting the most complete care possible.

Concussions are a multi-factorial problem, and each healthcare provider can and should provide their unique expertise when developing and carrying out a comprehensive care plan for you.
